My wife is unrepentant adulterer, but I won’t divorce her –Husband
From CHARLES ADEGBITE, Ado-Ekiti
A 55-year-old hotelier (name withheld) yesterday told an Ado-Ekiti Customary Court in Ekiti State that his wife is an unrepentant adulterer, but he is not willing to divorce her.
He explained that he was not willing to divorce the woman because he had spent over N8 million on her, which included a N3.5 million house he built for her. He said his relationship with the woman had only produced a three-year-old female child and that he would run into loss if the relationship was dissolved without the woman bearing more children for him.

Lamenting over his association with the woman, the man disclosed that recently, he found a condom with fresh sperm in it on the floor of his room and asked the woman how the newly used condom got there while he was not around. He told the court that he was surprised when his wife told him that the condom must be the one they used about four months ago, saying that the woman was too promiscuous and allegedly had over eight man-friends.
To justify his claims, he said he sold one of his houses recently and gave the woman N300, 000 to start a trade, saying the woman went into beer and pepper soup business, which became a convergent center for her numerous lovers. The hotelier, who is also a school proprietor, said the men friends often romance the woman in his presence each time he was there to look at situation of things with his business.
The woman, who filed the divorce said she was seeking the dissolution of that association because the man had been beating her and her mother, saying she is no longer interested in it on the ground that he does not love the man any longer.
The court, presided over by Mrs. Akomolede adjourned the case till July 18, 2013, and ruled that the duo should maintain peace until the court finally gives its ruling, saying the man should not beat the woman nor go to police station to arrest the woman, as he earlier threatened to do for recovery of some of his property in the possession of the woman.
